The ndi xijtho between globalization and the psychedelic renaissance

A talk by Rosalía Acosta, Sarai Piña Alcántara, Inti García Flores and Bia Labate
La Salle University, Master's student at the Center for Research and Higher Studies in Social Anthropology of Mexico City, Renato García Dorantes Mazatec historical archive & Chacruna Institute

We will talk about the ritual use of the ndi xijtho (little ones that sprout) and how they are closely related to mother earth and the beings that inhabit her. This in the Sierra Mazateca, Oaxaca. We will talk about the therapeutic level of mushrooms, but also about how in recent years there has been a cultural and biological extractivism with ritual and mushrooms in the area. In addition to the fact that before the psychedelic renaissance, indigenous narratives are not made visible, which reproduces relationships of oppression.
